Allium ursinum is a white flowering, garlic scented wildflower native to Great Britain, other parts of Europe, and Asia. It is commonly known as wild garlic or ramsons but is also called buckrams, wood garlic, broad-leaved garlic, bear leek or bear's garlic. It grows well in moist soil and thrives in woodland, often being found near bluebells. It is considered to be an Ancient Woodland Indicator species. The plant itself can grow to 40cm in height and the flowers have a strong garlic scent. It is a hardy perennial and best sown in autumn in semi-shaded, moist, fertile soil.
